Evoak Counselling Services at a Glance
Finding the right support for you.

You might be feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, struggling with addiction, or finding that things from your past are still affecting you now. You may not even be se sure what you need, just that something doesn't feel right.

At Evoak Counselling, you can choose the support that feels most comfortable for you, including 1-2-1 counselling, support for young people and group counselling.

Sessions are available face to face, online or by telephone, with support for trauma, addiction, anxiety and depression.

You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

1-2-1 Counselling

Sometimes you know what’s wrong. Other times, you just know that something needs to change.

You might feel stuck, overwhelmed or exhausted by the same thoughts, feelings or patterns. You may find yourself wondering, “Why do I keep doing this?”, “Why do I feel like this?” or simply “I don’t want to feel this way anymore.”

One-to-one counselling gives you a confidential space where you can talk openly, without judgement. I won’t tell you what you should do. Instead, we can begin to understand what’s underneath how you’re feeling, where certain patterns or ways of coping may have come from, and what you would like to be different.

I work in an integrative and trauma-informed way, adapting our sessions to you rather than expecting you to fit one particular approach.

Trauma & Addiction Understanding What’s Underneath

Trauma and addiction can sometimes be more connected than we realise. What looks like a difficult behaviour on the outside may have started as a way of coping with something painful underneath.

You may find yourself using alcohol, drugs, food, avoidance or other behaviours to switch off, escape difficult feelings or simply get through the day. You might understand that something isn’t helping you anymore but still find it incredibly difficult to stop.

I offer a trauma-informed, non-judgemental space where we can explore not only what is happening now, but what may be driving it. This can include difficult childhood experiences, relationships, loss, abuse, shame or other experiences that have affected how you learned to cope.

The aim isn’t to judge or take away a coping strategy without understanding what it has been doing for you. Together, we can begin to understand the patterns, recognise triggers and find healthier ways of managing what sits underneath them.

Anxiety and Depression
When Everything Feels Too Much

You might feel constantly on edge, unable to switch your thoughts off, or find yourself worrying about things even when you know you can’t control them.

Or perhaps things feel different in another way. You may feel low, disconnected, exhausted or as though you’ve lost interest in things that used to matter to you. Sometimes it can be difficult to explain why you feel the way you do.

Anxiety and depression can also be connected to what we’ve experienced, how we see ourselves and the ways we’ve learned to cope.

In counselling, we can explore what’s happening for you and begin to understand what may be underneath those feelings. Rather than expecting you to simply “think positively” or get on with things, I offer a space where you can be honest about how things really feel.

Together, we can work towards helping you understand yourself better, recognise patterns and find ways of coping that feel healthier and more manageable.

Group Counselling You Don’t Have to Do It Alone

Sometimes being around people who understand can help you realise that you’re not the only one struggling.

Group counselling offers a supportive, confidential space where you can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. There is no pressure to speak before you’re ready. Listening to other people’s experiences can be just as valuable as sharing your own.

I facilitate small groups of up to 12 people, creating a space where people can feel heard, understood and less alone.

Groups may explore areas such as addiction, emotional wellbeing, difficult experiences and ways of coping, with opportunities to understand patterns, learn from one another and build healthier ways forward.

Your first group session is free, giving you the chance to experience the group before deciding whether it feels right for you.
